Don Jazzy, born Michael Collins Ajereh is a music mogul, an entrepreneur, and philanthropist, producer and record label owner and Nigeria’s most respected and popular music producer. He was a co-founder of the now-defunct Mo Hits record label and presently the founder of Mavin Records, a recording label he founded after Mo Hits closed.

Michael Ajereh, or Don Jazzy as he is fondly called was born in Umuahia, on the 26th of November, 1982, even though he is from Isoko, in Delta State and not Igbo as many claim. His mother, an Igbo princess from Abia State married Mr. Ajereh, an Isoko man who would later move his family from Umuahia, Don Jazzy’s birthplace, to Ajegunle, in Lagos. Don Jazzy was exposed to musical instruments at a tender age of 4 and by 12, had started playing the drums, and bass guitars.

D’Banj was Don Jazzy’s first artist on the now-defunct Mo Hits Records which was founded in 2004. He produced “The Koko Master’s” “No Long Thing” album around 2015 produced that of other members of the Mo Hits crew at the time including Wande Coal, Da Prince, Dr. Sid, and also artistes not signed to the label such as Naeto C, Ikechukwu, Sauce Kid, Darey, etc. Sadly, the record died in 2014, leaving Don Jazzy to creating another – Mavin Records. With Mavins, Jazzy signed Tiwa Savage, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, and Di’ja and also produced several albums for the artistes.

Don Jazzy is an award-winning music producer who has won several awards since his emergence as a music producer. In 2006, Jazzy won the Nigerian Music Awards and the Nigerian Entertainment Awards’ Producer of the year in 2007.
